Research Vision and Goals
ICREDITS-2 investigates the design, operational, and security challenges of next generation electric power production and delivery, providing sustainability (economic, environmental, technological), reliability, and resilience against low-probability, high-impact events. iCREDITS-2 fosters an inclusive culture in research and education, leading to a diverse talented workforce of practitioners and researchers. The Center's  mission is to develop collaborative research, in partnership with national labs and industry, to explore  transformations of the existing electricity distribution infrastructures into interconnected, intelligent microgrids, its evolution towards a broader research agenda on Critical Cyberphysical Systems (CCS), and the integration of research with a comprehensive educational agenda. This will provide inclusive  educational opportunities to women and traditionally underrepresented minorities (URMs) in computing and  engineering. This mission will be led by an interdisciplinary team—from Computer Science (CS), Electrical Engineering (EE), Industrial Engineering (IE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), and Curriculum & Instruction.
