Dr. Vishwanathan was Assistant Professor at SUNY Polytechnic prior to joining the computer science department at NMSU. Roopa was a postdoctoral at UNC-Greensboro after completing her terminal degree.
She is interested broadly in security, privacy, and in theoretical and applied aspects of cryptography. In the applied realm, she is researching blockchains, and investigating how to apply cryptographic protocols to design blockchain-based applications (such as credit networks, blockchain rewrites, and more). Theoretically, Roopa is building tools for automated proof generation and verification of cryptographic protocols.
